James Davis

James Davis is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who began his career at the University of Indianapolis studying Clinical Psychology. He has experience with adults, adolescents, children, and families while working in both community mental health and school-based counseling programs.
He believes in using an empathetic, client-focused approach to counseling to help the client and/or family identify their needs and goals. He has a special interest in working with children and teens, anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns through individual and family counseling. James typically uses motivational interviewing, behavior modification techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy, and has experience with trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy techniques.
James has seven years of experience providing counseling for families and children in multiple districts throughout Indianapolis. He has experience coordinating Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) interventions and making recommendations to school staff for ways to improve the client’s ability to cope. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, playing with his pitbull named Willow, and going to rock concerts!
